Kilikanoon Killerman’s Run Shiraz

Kilikanoon Killerman’s Run Shiraz

100% Shiraz

Clare Valley, Australia

2017

Winemaker Notes

Kilikanoon started in 1997 when winemaker and proprietor Kevin Mitchell purchased a property with that name in the Clare Valley. Kevin’s father, Mort, was a winemaker as well and, long ago, Mort was fascinated by an old neighbor named Killerman, living in a shed on the property, self-sufficient, growing his own food and catching rabbits for his favorite protein. From him Mort learned about the land around him and the wildlife there. The Killerman’s Run wines are blended from spots in the Clare that Kevin and his dad think are special; the wines are handmade and basket pressed.

WineChump Notes

I can’t remember the first time I had a Kilikanoon Shiraz, most probably because it was so good I finished the bottle! On the serious side, we’ve been drinking these for years — since the 2002. Unparalleled consistency, great heritage, and tremendous nose keep us coming back. The 2017 is a keeper, but we don’t recommend leaving it in your cellar too long — who knows when armageddon will happen?
