Dark burgundy red in color, the 2010 Cycles Gladiator Merlot is classic and approachable with gorgeous fruit and rich aromas of dark plum, toasty oak and caramel. The flavors are layered and beau- tifully structured, with cassis, dark choco- late, plum and black cherry, which unfold in the mid-palate, fanning out to solid yet well-integrated tannins that allow the wine a lingering, silky finish.

This wine shines with an array of foods. Try it with rich duck confit, braised chicken with honey and five-spice, spicy lamb kabobs or your favorite burger!

WineChump Notes

I had this one’s sister the other night.  (Now, now, be nice.)  This Cycles Gladiator is a cool twist on its sister, Cycles Gladiator Cabernet Sauvignon, which is almost the reverse in blend (although the Cabernet had a bit of Sirah added to it).   It’s a great table wine, and (again), it’s quite nice for sub $10.
