Cycles Gladiator Cabernet Sauvignon

86% Cabernet Sauvignon
9% Merlot
5% Petite Sirah

Lodi

2010

Producer Notes

True to its appellation, the 2010 Cycles Gladiator Cabernet has the strength and power characteristic of wines from Lodi. A deep purple color supports a dense, black cherry dominated aroma. Cherry flavors continue to headline through to the finish, supported by lighter accents of plum, cola and cedar. A big, muscular wine, a weighty tannic structure make their presence felt throughout.

A show stopper on its own, this wine would pair beautifully with grilled bison hamburgers and stone ground mustard.

WineChump Notes

Not expecting anything tremendous, I opened this wine to have with a cheese plate with Kutztown ring bologna (Pure Honey, of course).  Nothing tremendous.  No big thing.  Really.  And then the nose.  Not bad.  Not bad at all.  The first sip and the finish.  Very surprising, and nice!  The Cabernet is tamed by the Merlot and Petit Sirah.  While it could be a bit drier, it’s quite nice for sub $10.
